What’s New?
HAPPY SPRING!! (Hopefully and finally…) Thank you to all who met with me for parent teacher conferences. Your support for your child’s learning is truly appreciated. Please practice the following with your child: writing on lines, vowel sounds, retelling a story after he/she reads the story to you—including beginning, middle and end of a story. Comprehension is a learned skill for children this age and the more it is practiced, the better students will become at it. Please also practice identifying fiction and nonfiction stories. Your support is much appreciated! ☺ Gym days are Day 1 and Day 5 for our class so please have your child wear sneakers to school on this day! Many families find it helpful to mark their calendars with the day it is so gym days are kept track of. For reference, Day 6 is Thursday, April 2nd. (and Library Day) Our jog a thon will take place Tuesday, April 14th in gym class :) Thank you also to families who constantly send in needed classroom items. We truly appreciate your kindness and generosity.
Curriculum
This month, we will be reviewing vowel sounds, segmenting and blending words and learning the sight words where, look, as, has and come and does. In math, we will be learning about counting and writing numbers, the concept of shorter and longer and comparison of numbers. In social studies, we will be reviewing community helpers and manners. In science, we will review weather and learn about lifecycles.
What’s Needed?
Paper towels and sandwich and gallon sized bags needed for the classroom. Your generosity is MUCH appreciated. Please send a labeled water bottle to school with your child daily. Thank you!

Other Information…
We make every effort to take children outside while we still can. Please also know that the classroom is very warm, this time of year. If you would like to send in a water bottle for your child to keep at school, you may do so. But please be sure to label the bottle with your child’s name on it. Please send in an extra outfit for your child to keep at school. Please make sure the outfit is a complete set including socks, underwear, shirt, and pants and that it is put in a labeled bag with your child’s name on it. Please make sure the take home folder is brought to school everyday as we put important notices and information in there daily. Please remind your child if they are hot or cold lunch daily.
