What’s New?
The children are making wonderful progress in Kindergarten and pumpkins are behind us while Thanksgiving is next! Our good job jar is almost full! We will have a pajama and a movie day soon! Please make sure children bring a jacket daily as we go outside for recess and free play whenever possible. As consistent winter weather comes, please send in mittens or gloves, hats, and snow pants and boots. (Labeled with your child’s name is much appreciated!) Parent teacher conferences will be Tuesday, November 18th from 1-3 pm and Thursday, November 20th from 4-6 pm. Just a reminder that parent teacher conferences are only 10 minutes so please come prepared with questions and concerns. I will also do my best to stay on time as the slots are back to back. More information will follow regarding parent teacher conferences. Your support with this is truly appreciated. :) Please continue to send a labeled water bottle in for students, especially on gym days.
Curriculum
This month, we will continue to learn about all of the letters, how to write on lines and read more sight words. In math, we will be learning about counting, comparing, and patterns. In reading, we will learn the sight words go, you, and do, how to blend and segment words and how to count syllables in words. In addition, we will be practicing how to form letters, put spaces between words and using punctuation. We will continue to learn about the concepts of print. In social studies, we are working on learning how to listen, be a good friend, how to be assertive and about thanksgiving and veterans day. In science, we will begin to learn about weather and seasons. Please continue helping your child with identifying letters, sounds, numbers, and comprehending stories read to them. Please also work with your children on shoe tying and zipping up coats. These self-help skills make a difference in the routine of our day! Thank you for your support!
What’s Needed?
Baby wipes are needed for the classroom. Just a reminder that school lunch is free for all students through the end of the year. Daily options include: chicken patty, ham Or turkey(depending on availability) and cheese, yogurt parfait or sun butter and jelly. The main menu choice is on the November lunch menu. The lunch menu can be found on www.tantasqua.org, click on Burgess and click on menu. Reminder that if your child wants milk with a lunch from home, the cost is 50 cents. You can send money in a labeled envelope with their name for milk and it will go into their account. The yearly school calendar can be found there as well. Other Information…
Please send a daily snack and drink with your child. Please be sure that it is a snack that can be eaten in ten minutes as we have a busy daily schedule. In addition, please pack snacks in a labeled separate zip lock bag from the child’s lunch. Children will be putting their snack in the top of their cubby and we like it separate so they do not get confused and eat their afternoon snack at lunch. Since the weather is still warm, please apply sunscreen to your child daily before school. We make every effort to take children outside while we still can. Please also know that the classroom is very warm, this time of year. If you would like to send in a water bottle for your child to keep at school, you may do so. But please be sure to label the bottle with your child’s name on it. Please send in an extra outfit for your child to keep at school. Please make sure the outfit is a complete set including socks, underwear, shirt, and pants and that it is put in a labeled bag with your child’s name on it. Please make sure the take home folder is brought to school everyday as we put important notices and information in there daily. Please remind your child if they are hot or cold lunch daily.
