May/June 2026
What’s New?
It is hard to believe that we are almost done for the year! This is the last newsletter of the year! The children have done fantastic this year! I am so proud of their progress and success. It is hard to believe that there are only 33 school days left of the school year. It has gone by very fast! Please continue to practice sight words and reading over the summer. Thank you for your support. Over the summer, please practice comprehension of a story with your child. After your child reads the story to you, please have them retell the story in their own words as well as talking about the setting and characters of the story. Please also practice shoe tying if possible.
Curriculum
These next months, we will be reviewing letters and will learn about long vowels, digraphs and continue to improve our writing skills as well as review all vowels. We will learn about measurement, 3 dimensional shapes, numbers beyond 10, weight and place value, sorting and classifying shapes and animals. Please continue to practice sight words and reading! We had caterpillars in the classroom and they are cocoons now! Once they transition, we will release the butterflies! We have had fun learning about the lifecycle of a butterfly as well as plants. Students brought home zinnia plants on Friday and they planted the seeds and watched them grow. We hope they bloom for you all as zinnias are beautiful when they bloom.
What’s Needed?
Paper towels and mini water bottles are needed for the classroom. Your support and generosity is truly appreciated. ☺ We will be sending decodable reading books for students to read to you again the week of May 11th. Please have your child read the book to you and return the next day. Thank you for your support with this. Please practice reading all summer. A summer packet will go home in June so that students are able to keep up their skills throughout the summer. Thank you for an amazing year and all of your support. We have truly enjoyed watching your child grow and learn and getting to know all of you. You will all be missed! Take care and we hope you all stay healthy, safe and have a fantastic summer!
