What’s New?
February is here and that is hard to believe! The students have made amazing progress and we are so proud of them! Please practice reading and sight words with your children as often as possible. Your support is much appreciated! Leveled books (the books that come home in the bag) are to come back to school the very next day, please. These will start to come home soon! Please return the small letter and paper books that are sent home after your child reads three times. Please work with your child on tying shoes as we have a hectic day in Kindergarten! We are looking forward to celebrating our 100th day of school and Valentine’s Day! Your constant support and generosity is much appreciated! The Good Job jar is almost full! Great Job, A101! Please only send snow clothes (winter jacket, snow pants, snow boots, hat and gloves) if it is going to be 20 degrees or above. Please make sure all snow clothes are in a bag. Thank you!
Curriculum
This month, we will be reviewing all letters and the sight words are,he,is,little,my,she,was and with. We will also review nouns and reading strategies. We will learn the new sight words said and want, for and have. We will learn about verbs. In math, we will be learning about addition, subtraction, more or less and building to the number 10. We will finish learning about weather, living and nonliving and community helpers. We will continue to practice our reading and writing strategies. We will continue to learn how to blend sounds to read and write words as well as forming uppercase letters when writing.
What’s Needed?
We are now writing our first and last names on all of our papers. Please practice this at home with your child as well and please make sure all homework is done neatly and in pencil. Please make sure children are writing their names on their homework. If there is not a name on homework papers, students cannot earn a star for their homework chart. Once the homework chart is full, children can pick a prize from the treasure chest! ☺
Baby wipes are needed for the classroom. Thank you! We truly appreciate your constant support and generosity. It has been a fantastic school year so far and we truly enjoy teaching your children and getting to know all of you!

Other Information…
We make every effort to take children outside while we still can. Please also know that the classroom is very warm, this time of year. If you would like to send in a water bottle for your child to keep at school, you may do so. But please be sure to label the bottle with your child’s name on it. Please send in an extra outfit for your child to keep at school. Please make sure the outfit is a complete set including socks, underwear, shirt, and pants and that it is put in a labeled bag with your child’s name on it. Please make sure the take home folder is brought to school everyday as we put important notices and information in there daily. Please remind your child if they are hot or cold lunch daily.
